Since 1979, Calgary birders have contributed to a broad census of the ever-changing patterns of bird distributions in North America. Last year recorded 225 species. This year’s count circle extends from Olds to Nanton and from Exshaw to Standard (see map, below), and includes a variety of environments.

Birders of all levels of experience are welcome, from beginners to team leaders responsible for reporting, as many eyes and ears make a big difference to the numbers of birds detected. Beginners will be included in groups with experienced birders. Participants may be limited per count areas to ensure coverage across areas, especially within the city.

Reports will be submitted via eBird or Excel spreadsheet to reduce error rate and facilitate reporting.

Most areas involve driving, with a limited number of walking routes. Please sign up as early as possible. For sign-up information, please contact Melanie Seneviratne at melaniesene*@*gmail.com, or 403-815-1275.
