The April Meeting for the Nature Calgary Bird Study Group will feature a presentation by Dan Arndt, titled Pelagic Birding:

Birding on the open ocean is not for the faint of heart, or the faint of stomach. On the west coast of Canada, from Tofino and Ucluelet, pelagic birding trips are infrequent, but provide some of the best opportunities north of the 49th parallel to see birds impossible to find within sight of land. While not a seasoned veteran at pelagic birding yet, Daniel Arndt will talk about his experiences on two trips out of Ucluelet in 2013 and 2016, and one smaller trip out of Tofino in 2016.

This will be a great introduction, particularly for those planning to attend the Wild Research pelagic trip from Ucluelet on May 07th, which coincides with the 2017 Tofino Shorebird Festival!

Bird Study Group now meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month, 7:30 pm, in Room 211, Biosciences Bldg, U of C. Contact, Andrew Hart 403-‐279-‐5209 or birdstudy@naturecalgary.com.

Note: Bird Study Group meetings are free to Nature Calgary members as well as for non-members who are attending for the first time.  Non-members who attend a meeting for the second or more times are asked to pay a nominal fee of $5.00 per event.
